I love the community! Everyone goes to watch shows, but they talk about them all with perfect strangers, recommending shows, etc. It’s great!

I don’t know what I love most about the Vancouver Fringe Festival. I’m new here. Moved here with my girlfriend in January. And it turns out, the web designer I’ve never met in person ended up being my girlfriends new co-worker. And he’s directing a show at the festival! On top of all that, he’s a super nice guy!
I’m gonna go check out the show regardless, but it would be cool if the universe kept doing cool things.

I love that every day for over a week I can just head down to the box office with no particular play in mind and end up seeing some of the most creative, original, cutting edge and thought provoking theatre out there!

The Fringe is the best way for emerging artists to get their work out there, for established artists to experiment with work they’ve always wanted to do and for audiences to be able to see a number of shows at one time at an extremely accessible price point. What is there not to love about the Fringe?

The majority of us work in four-walled office or cubicle…longing for a bit of entertainment, intrigue, and general je ne c’est quoi? The Vancouver Fringe fills the void. The ability to let the masses escape themselves for one or two days is a wonderful thing.

This is my very first Fringe Festival. What I like so far is that there are so many talented people who now have a stage to share their art with all those that want to see it and without the Vancouver Fringe Festival, a lot of these acts wouldn’t get the exposure they deserve. I can wait to explore all that the festival has to offer.

I love how artists get the chance to showcase their talents in an unconventional way and the public are invited to take a peak at these rare, raw and sometimes eccentric performances. Seeing art live is always inspiring and thought-provoking.

Attending the Fringe is a best described by Suzanne Vega’s “Left Of Center” song: “If you want me / You can find me / Left of center / Off of the strip / In the outskirts / In the fringes / In the corner / Out of the grip.”
